    RayVSoul

    "Retro flavor. Modern fire."

RayVSoul is a singer, songwriter, and producer whose music blends ’70s Funk and Soul, ‘80s Synth-Pop, ‘90s Hip-Hop, and a dash of the Blues into a sound that feels both retro and refreshingly new. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, his musical roots run deep—from early piano lessons and self-taught church organ to leading school funk bands and writing songs that caught the attention of local producers.

Influenced by legends like Otis Redding, Sly & The Family Stone, and Teddy Riley, RayVSoul’s sound is rich with groove and emotion, while his vocals channel the raw soulfulness of Wilson Pickett, Bobby Womack, and Teddy Pendergrass. His debut album, Wanna Live the American Dream, delivers thought-provoking lyrics, irresistible rhythms, and timeless soul energy, inviting listeners to feel, move, and connect.

    Project details

RayVSoul’s debut album, Wanna Live the American Dream, is a fearless, genre-bending project that captures the heartbeat of our times. With themes spanning economic hardship, job insecurity, personal struggle, disillusionment, and the pursuit of self-actualization, the record balances raw honesty with a message of hope.

Musically, it’s a masterful fusion of eras: the grit and groove of classic soul and funk (echoing Sam & Dave and Sly & the Family Stone) collides with modern synth-pop and lo-fi textures, creating a sound that feels both timeless and refreshingly new. RayVSoul’s soulful vocals—steeped in the tradition of the soul greats—anchor each track with emotional weight and authenticity.

Written and recorded during a period of profound personal challenge, Wanna Live the American Dream doesn’t shy away from the pain but instead transforms it into a unifying anthem. It’s more than an album—it’s a bold soundtrack for navigating today’s struggles, reminding listeners that none of us are in this alone.
